Weddings are expensive affairs, but with a couple of simple tricks, you can save a lot of money!
1. Have your wedding in the low season. In the game reserves and the beach resorts the weather will still be stunning. In Cape Town and the winelands, May and September are lovely and prices are low. On Zanzibar October and November are cheap, as well as April and May.
2. Have your wedding on a week day. Venues are most popular and expensive on Fridays and Saturdays.
3. Choose a well priced all inclusive safari lodge for your wedding. The only extras you will need are an officiator and a photographer
4. Use seasonal flowers and make a statement by using one or two bright flowers in every vase. And brighten with candles.
5. Use the free google websites for your invitations and to post your pictures
6. In South Africa, most venues will let you take your own wine and you pay only a small corkage fee
7. Skip the wedding favours. When did you last use a wedding favour. Most of them get left behind anyway.
