I can not tell you how excited I am. For about a month I have been digging through telephone books, searching the internet and frantically looking for a wedding dress. I can’t believe how expensive they are. Just a normal, off the rack, pretty shitty dress, is more than R6000. That is more than the food for 50 people!!!!
Then a friend of mine recommended Derryl Hogging, a lovely retired English woman who lives in Durbanville just 30 minutes from the centre of Cape Town. I called her up and made an appointment a month later and visited her yesterday for my first chat.
Derryl has obviously been making dresses for donkey’s years because she took one look at me, asked me what I have in mind for my wedding, and proceeded to draw my dream dress. She will then sew the dress from the drawing. Amazing!
And best of all, the price will be R1500 and within my budget for a dress. I saw a couple of her other dresses and they are magnificent and in all sorts of styles.
