As you all know by now, my wedding venue, the Post House in Greyton is in jeopardy of being cancelled because new owners took over last month. After not hearing anything from them for quite some time, I thought I should give them a call and see if they wanted a deposit from me. That was how I found out that new owners had taken over and everything seemed in turmoil.
After a couple of weeks of very little information from the new owners, we took a trip to Greyton to chat to them and settle things. This is after all a rather big day on our calendar and we want to make sure that everything will run smoothly.
The new owner was pleasant enough, but it worries me that all the old staff are gone and this lady seems to know very little about restaurants and catering. She isn’t from a restaurant background.
While chatting with her, we settled on a menu, the dance floor, wine etc. She was then going to organize the décor for the venue and let us know costs etc. It has been two weeks and not a peep. Then I get a text message on the weekend saying that she will get back to me with the final costing and account details for the deposit.
I have to say that I am very wary of paying a deposit and am pretty irritated that I am nervous and worked up about this, so late in the day. The wedding is in 5 weeks time and we haven’t even settled on prices yet.
We are both getting pretty strung out and there is a lot of snapping happening in our household. Not great at all.
