How can it be so hard to understand that small kids need to be babysat so the adults can enjoy the party. I am flabbergasted. My Fiancees friend is now very upset. His wife isn't happy with a baby sitter. The child is 2.5 years old and has NEVER been babysat before. How is that??? Seems mad to me. But I am so over it. They need to sort themselves out. We are having the same issue and I can't believe how snippy people are being. Their little kids are not on the invitations, they just don't get it. They have options---get a sitter, one spouse stays home with child, or don't come to the wedding. People feel so entitled today and nobody respects your wishes. Also not a child hater. Just don't want a squalling month old or a 2 year old tantrum or a 3 year old announcing loud and clear: I hafta go potty! In the middle of the ceremony. Geez people, take a breath. It's not that big of a deal. Stay home and let us know so we don't have a meal waiting for you at $20 a pop. Everybody is going to live. You are absolutely not out of line. Comment on Booking a Wedding Venue in Cape Town by sean http://honeymoon-africa.com/blog/weddings/booking-a-wedding-venue-in-cape-town/#comment-7 sean Wed, 06 Aug 2008 07:44:47 +0000 http://honeymoon-africa.com/?p=7#comment-7 For something really special, why not consider South Hill for a country wedding with style? Only an hour's drive from Cape Town with plenty of reasonably priced accomodation nearby for guests who would like to make a weekend of it! With top chef Gordon Manuel now permanently based on the farm you'll be guaranteed brilliant cuisine and with all the award winning South Hill wines sold at cellar door prices (even at the restaurant and venue), you won't get a nasty surprise when presented with the bar bill! You don't mention what your budget is, but there are a couple of lovely places in KwaZulu Natal that shouldn't set your bank account on fire. Zululand Safari Lodge is in a private reserve near the Hluhluwe Game Reserve. The lodge has just been completely renovated and is looking great. The cost for 2009 is R600 per person with dinner and breakfast. A wedding package can be negotiated. If your budget is a little higher than that, then Hluhluwe River Lodge is a great option. This lodge also offers greaat activities such as quad biking, river cruises and guided tours. The rates for 2009 start at R1600 per person for dinner and breakfast. Rhino River lodge (which I haven't been to myself) is also situated near Hluhluwe Game Reserve and rates are both catered and self catering. So a good option for the budget driven. Most lodges will help you organise an officiator, flowers and a nice menu for your wedding meal. And they will usually allow you to have the ceremony in a lovely bush location! Good luck and let me know if I can assist you in any way. Hi Lodi
